[1] microsd is slow media for writing. usb2 is faster, spinning rust might be even faster (it certainly is for rpi4/usb3 spinning rust) [2] anything fast writing small files needs this, or a mfs, on rpi[2,3] like git or svn. The problem never happens on rpi4/usb3-hd/100Mbit. -- J.
