My earlier written comment bug 252579 is not relevant.
bug 272091 is committed (thanks).
By using the added option, httpd will not die instantly when gd uses fonts.
However, mod_php will continue to leak memory, so it is imperative that
MaxConnectionsPerChild be set to something other than 0.
