Two days ago, feeling adventurous, I loaded the module on a relatively old
computer where the module is almost certainly _not_ required. A computer that
does normally sleep, and wake, without difficulty. 

If I'm not mistaken: loading tpm caused the subsequent suspend to fail (with a
requirement to force off the computer).
