So,having turned off sddm|kde highDPI and rebooted, ps still shows high idle.
KDE system monitor reports high CPU one CPU 60-100%, while process list doesn't
show idle and sorted list show worst performer is 1% CPU. Gnome system monitor
shows 100% idle CPU split over several CPUs on graph between 0-10%.
