Hi. As I've just filed Bug 276245 [1], the project is not abandoned. It stopped on previous upstream but switched to new place (launchpad), but people who don't like the changes created new fork for legacy 0.8 branch and maintaining at GitHub as Compiz Reloaded. Anyway, I have not enough time and skill to maintain them. New maintainer is wanted.
