This is not true. It's maintained, though not that active as you've
probably expected it to (e.g. by comparing with yt-dlp, which is a way
far more active though).

It works. For its main purpose it does work. I use it every day (via
cron job) and my attempt to "just switch" to yt-dlp failed recently as
they are not fully inter-compatible:

I'm not a FreeBSD ports committer or else, I'm a regular FreeBSD user,
and seeing the port being deprecated like that doesn't look to me nice.
