I think that on FreeBSD 12 it's still fuse.ko. I don't have a 12, but in ref12-amd64: [fernape@ref12-amd64 /usr/src/sys/modules]$ grep -w KMOD /usr/src/sys/modules/fusefs/Makefile KMOD= fusefs SYMLINKS= ${KMOD}.ko ${KMODDIR}/fuse.ko So I think 12 has both fusefs.ko and fuse.ko Cheers.
