Oh, my previous message is incomplete.
You have to move all these STRIP_CMD commands to corresponding
post-install-FOO-on:

post-install-CGI-on:
        @${STRIP_CMD} ${STAGEDIR}${PREFIX}/bin/php-cgi

post-install-PHPDBG-on:
        @${STRIP_CMD} ${STAGEDIR}${PREFIX}/bin/phpdbg

post-install-CLI-on:
        @${STRIP_CMD} ${STAGEDIR}${PREFIX}/bin/php

post-install-FPM-on:
        @${STRIP_CMD} ${STAGEDIR}${PREFIX}/sbin/php-fpm

post-install-EMBED-on:
        @${STRIP_CMD} ${STAGEDIR}${PREFIX}/lib/libphp.so
