	Consistency - everything installs and uninstalls the same way.
	Dependency tracking.
	Clean uninstall.
	FreeBSD specific patches.
	Compatible with pre-built packages.
	pkg-upgrade

Advantages the other way

	Consistency - the application installs the same on all OSs
	Fastest possible update tracking

If you're running single function jails then there's probably a lot to be
said for using the application ecosystem in each jail. If you're installing
a lot of things on a workstation then packages will save you much pain.
