I tried anyway and got:

root@mordillod:/usr/share/syscons/fonts # vidcontrol -f terminus-u12n.fnt < /dev/console
vidcontrol: terminus-u12n.fnt: can't guess font size

wich looks promising. Now the console looks like a small postage stamp,
so I guess it did change the screen resolution. I'll have to dig more
in the fonts docs...
