            Bug ID: 269220
Summary: x11-fm/4pane Start deleting files upon launch
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: danfe@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: bsd@bontempi.net

             Flags: maintainer-feedback?(danfe@FreeBSD.org)

I installed 4Pane on a FreeBSD 13.1 desktop with KDE. I have been using FreeBSD
since 2002.

Upon first launch the 4Pane window froze for a few seconds. I clicked on the
window top bar. The 4Pane window became whitish and was unmovable. A few
seconds after that the window became normal again. I noticed a message at the
bottom indicating 4Pane was deleting files from my home directory. I tried to
quit the program but it wouldn't. I tried to pkill it, and it did not work.
Then, I kill -9 it.

I saw countless files inside ~/.cache/4Pane/.Trash/DeletedBy4Pane/.

My home directory was so trashed that upon reboot I could not even start Xorg.

I had to recover all files from backup. I am not installing it ever again of
course.

I am submitting this as a heads-up. I am not saying this is purportedly malign
app, but it is not safe at all.
