VT switch does NOT break GPU acceleration on Wayland: neither wayfire (wlroots)
nor niri (smithay) nor xwayland-devel (DRI3) are affected. I use VT switch
often e.g., test Wayland compositor updates, benchmark X11/Wayland clients
under different Wayland compositors.

Also, Xorg performance even with GPU acceleration is very bad (but not as bad
as llvmpipe) on my machine. See
